How It Works

The Reading Lodge Experience

1

Drop-Off Format

A Place Just For Children

The Reading Lodge is designed as a drop-off program. Parents bring their Explorer to the door, hand them off to a Guide, and return 60 or 75 minutes later. No parental participation is required during sessions, and that’s intentional. When children aren’t managing a parent’s proximity, they can settle, take risks, interact with their peers, and engage more fully in learning. The Reading Lodge is a literacy enrichment program—not a school—designed to complement your child’s education with intentional, hands-on reading instruction in a supportive, screen-free environment.

2

Schedule

Two Days. One Journey

Explorers attend two 60-minute sessions per week. Session times and days will be announced as we finalize our Kimball Junction location. Join our list below to be the first to know when scheduling opens. The program runs for 14 weeks in cohorts, meaning every Explorer begins and completes the journey with the same group of children.

3

Group Size

Small Groups. Big Attention.

Sessions are limited to 10 children, allowing  Guides to know each Explorer well and provide the individual attention they need. Groups are thoughtfully formed around a similar age range and emerging literacy skills, creating an environment where children can learn together, participate confidently, and build relationships with their peers.

Learning at Home

Keep the Learning Going at Home

Learning doesn’t stop when an Explorer leaves The Reading Lodge. Parents receive the songs, materials, and books their Explorer is using in sessions, making it easy to reinforce learned skills at home between visits.  No prior knowledge of phonics is needed. The resources are designed to be simple, playful, and enjoyable for parents and children to use together.   Just a few minutes of practice between sessions can make a meaningful difference in how quickly new skills become secure.
