What Your Explorer Will Be Able to Do
By the end of the 14-week Ascent, your child will have the foundational skills needed to begin reading and writing with confidence.
Your Explorer will be able to:
-
Hear, identify, and say all 42 core sounds of the English language.
-
Blend sounds together to read words they have never seen before, not just memorize familiar words.
-
Break words apart into their individual sounds to help them spell and write independently.
-
Form letters correctly and write them from memory.
-
Recognize and read common high-frequency words automatically.
-
Apply their phonics knowledge to new words, giving them the tools to work out unfamiliar words for themselves.
The transformation is bigger than reading.
Your child won't be taught to rely on pictures, guess from context, or memorize endless lists of words. Instead, they will learn a powerful strategy they can carry with them: look at the letters, say the sounds, blend them together, and figure out the word.
That shift from “I don't know this word” to “I know what to do” is the beginning of true reading independence.
OUR GOAL:
The goal of The Reading Lodge isn't simply to help your child arrive at kindergarten prepared.
It’s to help them arrive believing they are a reader.
Ready to open a book.
Ready to meet a new word.
Ready to have a go.
Ready to say, “I can figure it out.”

The Reading Lodge works alongside your child’s school, not instead of it.
Our program is designed as an enrichment complement to whatever educational setting your child is in: public school, private school, or homeschool. We build the phonics foundation. Your child’s school builds on top of it.
